So, LF2 is a very anime-styled game, and a lot of us here seem to be DBZ fans. So I was curious, does anyone else like any other anime or manga? It could be good to discuss them
DBZ was my first anime and so it has a very special place in my heart, even if I'm not as big into it as I once was. I would definitely have to rank it as an all-time favorite, though, because it means so much to me and my childhood memories. I'm mostly a fan of the Japanese version, but I have to say I really love the dub of Kai
My favorite anime is probably...the original version of the FullMetal Alchemist anime (not Brotherhood; not that Brotherhood wasn't good, but IMO the original anime's storyline was more interesting than the Brotherhood/manga storyline). It was a fantastic series and has what I think is one of the best English dubs.
Manga-wise...I've always liked manga more than anime for a lot of reasons (such as, the art is often crisper and more interesting to me as an artist, and there is usually more story, and less censorship, than an anime adaptation which changes things quite often) and I have read a lot. My favorite is definitely GetBackers...sadly I never finished it because Tokyopop lost its license for the series after 28 volumes (I believe it has about 36 total), but it's just a fantastic series and I recommend it to anyone who likes manga, if you can get your hands on it (out of print now) or find it online. I'd recommend the manga over the anime though, as they changed the plot greatly, it's very censored (I don't think anyone ever even bleeds, and I'm talking about the Japanese version), and so on.
These days I currently keep up with mostly 3 series...Kuroshitsuji (AKA Black Butler), One Piece and Sun Ken Rock. Sun Ken Rock actually reminds me a lot of DBZ sometimes, because there is a heavy emphasis on fighting and it has an idealistic main character with spiky blonde hair who is ridiculously strong, but likes to believe in and trust people a little too much sometimes This one is definitely for mature audiences, though - naked and scantily-clad women everywhere, sexual content, and some pretty extreme violence. There was only one moment in the manga so far that made me feel squeamish, though (it's in the first major story arc involving strongly implied rape with an inanimate object).
Does anyone else have any favorites?
