tried the reseizing way of spriting. original sprite to 400%, spriting at pixel brush seize 9 for dark-basic colours and 5 for light-highlighting colours. then original sprite reseized to 25% (yeah 100/4 you know it) and tada...i am quite fine with the results, as it was the first time I tried that way of spriting.

Looks good. Though I don't really like the white highlights.
I think it could be useful in certain parts.. like the gun or boots, making it shiny.... but it looks really bad on the coat. It makes the coat look like its made out of plastic or something.

btw. how are you guys spriting nowadays? at 100%, 300% 400%,etc..? which brush seizes?

100%, 1px for everything except the first shapes.

i sprite at 300% for the face (shape/eyes/nose/mouth)
200% for body outline/details
100% for finishing touches/lightning

brush size about anyting i need but the smallest is usually 2px
1px is rare

Same. spriting at expanded sizes is just too time consuming and becomes a bloody mess when dealing with extremely detailed sprites.

I'd rather have control over every exact pixel in its final form rather than allow the resizing algorithm control the details I get to put in my sprite.

For Frozen, even the first shapes are done in 1px. lol. Its abit overkill... as I'm taking FOREVER with it.

This is quite subjective... I personally prefer Sieg's style of colours. His tends to have a lower contrast... Or at least, it looks softer and less accented

that yellow hair seems a bit too light

update1:changed buu's upperbody and head a bit, and gohans colour, pants and upperbody...
update2: tried to give the sprites more depth


btw. how many colours do you use per body part? and how do you apply these?
dark shade -> basic -> highlight?
basic -> highlight?

it is just a draft of an animation...i over exaggerated the breathing since buu is an elastic guy. what can be improved...tell me before i start the real spriting on that stance

okay, I know pretty much nothing about dbz, but even if he's elastic that doesn't meant he should look like he's panting like a dog after a marathon. Save his elasticity for the moves, but not the breathing.

slightly better, still not very natural though. Contrast might be too high, unless his coat is actually shiny, which again I know nothing about (yes, not much of a childhood )

good until his toes. Looks like sausages right now. If you can thin it down towards the tips, it should be good

You are right on Buu...well it was just a try anyways, but I might use that animation for something other for him later on.

Alucards coat is supposed to be shiny (at least what I remember)

About the breathing sprites - use the LF2 style one pixel up by torso. Looks more natural.

Anyway, I heard you and prince_freeza are doing dbz mod. That's true?
